Broadway was showing a Kurosawa film every Sunday afternoon in January and I went to see all four of them. There was only one showing of each, and they were all very popular, with two of them being sold out. I think I've seen ToB before, but a long time ago. The best of them all was SS, which was three and a half excitement-packed hours long. I didn't really like THF, as the 'comedy' relief from the 2 farmers got on my nerves.

I really enjoyed Chicago, especially CZJ's performance - she's a really good dancer and looks fantastic in 1920's hairstyle and clothes. She has a great figure and doesn't look as if she's half-starved! RZ on the other hand, is way too skinny for a 20's showgirl - they weren't stick insects in those days. And somehow, however much weight she loses, her face always stays round and chubby, which looks very odd on such a scrawny body. Queen Latifah was extremely good too - very convincing as the corrupt prison matron. One of the most amusing moments of the whole film was when she had her hair done Roxie-style and Velma looked at her in horrified disbelief. Not being a rap fan, I didn't recognise her, and was surprised when the final credits came up.
