Yesterday's Book Crossing meet-up

akalucycat & olliebear28 at the 1st Nottingham Book Crossing meet-up. Edited 29/02: I forgot to include kangaroo on the list of people I met. I didn't forget she was there honest, it just slipped my mind that she had an LJ. And since the meeting I found out that tiggsybabes also has an LJ, so that makes four!
akalucycat & olliebear28 had made book-shaped id badges for us all to wear at the meeting and I came away with more evidence of their crafting obsessions interests, in the form of a 'running book' magnet and two different kinds of bookmarks. Other attendees supplied a big bowl of M&Ms and bars of Green & Black organic chocolate which helped to put us all in a good mood.
After some of us met up for coffee beforehand, the afternoon was spent in the pub, where we pushed several tables together and dumped our books in a huge pile in the middle for people to choose from. Most of the books went over the course of the afternoon, with a few being left in the loos and the leftovers being taken to local charity shops.
I think that there were about 22 of us altogether, and I had a good time - not as tongue-tied as I would usually be when faced with so many virtual strangers.
I took 17 books to the meeting and came home with 11 books. So my book collection has gone down (good), Mount Toobieread is higher than ever (bad) and my books will feel loved once I start using pretty beaded bookmarks to mark my place instead of old postcards and till receipts (good).
