What lj communities are you in & describe them very briefly to see if I'd be interested in joining them too.

Mostly books & sf. I hardly read the Callahans communities any more and I have joined three sf communities in the last couple of months. Whenever I friend anyone I always check out their communities, in case there's anything exciting I haven't heard about.

50bookchallenge - Read 50 books in a year and post your reviews here. A source of many new books added to my wish list. The most active community on my list.

bookcrossinguk - Not just for UK bookcrossers.

bookwyrmmes - A book club community, reading one science fiction and one fantasy book per month. I'm about to start my second month, re-reading "A Canticle for Leibowitz".

callahanians - An offshoot of the IRC callahans channel, which I discovered via the alt.callahans newsgroup.

callahans_place - A more recent offshoot.

callahansweight - A weight-loss community for Callahans people. Never really got off the ground.

fantasywithbite - For discussion of out of the ordinary fantasy fiction.

kingdomfansuk - For fans of the Stephen King series "Kingdom Hospital" who didn't want to see spoilers on the US based communities. Dead now the series has finished.

sf_with_bite - The science fiction sister group to fantasywithbite. I joined both of these recently.

This month's must read book is "Nathaniel's Nutmeg".
This month's must see movie is "Dodgeball" (a worthy winner even though it was the only film I saw this month).
