Spellchecking

I have just posted last night's dream to my dream diary and was moved to dwell upon the vagaries LJ's spell checker. I always ignore its American spelling suggestions, but have found that it also objects to words such as 'towards' and 'dreamt'. It makes me so paranoid sometimes that I have to check my spellings in a dictionary in case I made them up myself.

So are 'towards' & 'dreamt' not valid spellings in US English, or does the LJ spell checker just have a limited vocabulary?
