kittiwake: (mythology)

The Barnardo's charity shop was having a buy one book get another half-price offer over the Bank holiday weekend, so I was lured in despite my better judgement.

Happily I restricted myself to 2 books for £1.74, so I didn't break the bank or increase my unread books pile by too much:
"Stardust" by Neil Gaiman, a fortuitous find as I have just finished "Coraline".
"Into the Green" by Charles de Lint, an author who I keep reading good things about. Urban fantasy is one of my favourite genres, so I'm hoping I like this one (although that would mean adding his other books to my already overlong wish list).

Currently reading:
"1984" by George Orwell. By the time I finish it I may even remember whether or not I've read it before.
"In the Wake of the Plague" by Norman F. Cantor. A non-fiction book about the Black Death. My interest was inspired by reading "Doomsday Book" by Connie Willis recently.

They are my 43rd & 44th books for the [livejournal.com profile] 50bookchallenge.
