Darkening Evenings

kittiwakeThe clocks went back on Sunday, so today it was getting dark before I left work. I walked the last part of the journey home, under a dark turquoise-blue sky completely clear of clouds.
And the earlier twilight of the autumn evenings reminded me that I'll soon see Orion again in the dark winter skies. When I lived in my previous house, I would walk up the road home on clear winter evenings and say hello to Orion the Hunter, shining in the sky ahead of me and guiding me home.
