Miscellany
Sunday, April 18th, 2004 17:35Someone tipped detergent into the fountain in Slab Square again, and as it was windy yesterday, each new gust blew chunks of foam around the square and all the little kids were chasing them.
I went to see "The Butterfly Effect" at UGC yesterday, and before that standard Hollywood time-travel thriller they trailed "Bad Education" the new Almodovar movie. They are encroaching on Broadway's territory more and more recently, and I am not happy about it. They stopped showing Bollywood movies as soon as they took over The Cornerhouse from Warner Village Cinemas because they said they weren't profitable, and now they're showing arthouse movies and subtitled European films! How does that work?
I went to the gym this afternoon for the first time in ages. I often carry my my kit bag about with me but can't face actually going to the gym, and use any excuse to avoid going. But when I do finally force myself to go, as soon as I get up to the first floor of Victoria Centre I suddenly become calm and wonder what all the fuss was about. And whenever I do go to the gym I enjoy it. It's a mystery to me why I behave like this! Anyway, today I did 15 minutes on the bike, the 28-minute weight-loss program on the cross-trainer, another 15 minutes on the bike and finally spent another half-hour on weights.
