Weekend Miscellany
Monday, July 19th, 2004 19:38According to
olliebear28, 'kittiwake' is a dark velvety burgundy red name. Cool!
My proficiency with chopsticks went up dramatically on Friday night after Daemonwolf showed me how to hold them properly at the Chinese restaurant. I ate my whole meal with chopsticks rather than giving up and using a fork! I also got to hold 11-week-old Freddy while his mother was wrapping herself in her cloth baby sling at the end of the meal.
I watched Transworld sport in my room while I was getting ready on Saturday morning and they had mountain-bike bog-snorkelling from Llanwrtyd Wells (riding a lead-weighted mountain bike along a 30 m ditch in a peat-bog). Now I've heard of bog-snorkelling before (swimming along the ditch, wearing a snorkel and flippers) but I didn't know you could do it on mountain-bikes. I do like Transworld sport - what other program keeps you up to date on husky sledge racing and elephant polo.
And the prize for the bookcrosser who was least like I expected goes to
semioticghosts, who was not a severe, unapproachable, academic type with glasses. The only thing I guessed right about was her long dark hair.
Edited 20/07: I have just realised why I could never look at
semioticghosts' LJ properly before. It's because I thought her ID was 'semioticghost', and although there is a member of that name, his/her LJ seems to be just a blank black page.
