I haven't posted a Diet & Exercise Report for ages, as my weight and fitness campaign has been a total disaster recently. As soon as the Autumn nights started drawing in, my will-power went out of the window for some reason. I was eating loads of chocolate and not exercising, with obvious results.

For the start of the last Motley Fool Challenge, we changed the scoring system, to take account of other healthy living issues as well as weight loss. We are now setting ourselves targets in 3 areas, weight loss, health and exercise and score ourselves on each target every week (3 points for exceeding the target, 2 points for meeting the target, 1 point for partially meeting the target and 0 points for total failure).

Unfortunately, over the course of the last challenge, which finished two weeks ago, I put on 10 lbs and hardly scored any points over the whole 6 weeks (oh, the shame of it!). However, we're all very supportive of each other, so in cases of abject failure such as this, we just help each other up, dust each other down and start again. My targets for the new challenge are to lose 6 lb, to stick to the Atkins Diet 6 days a week and to do 2 classes/gym sessions per week. I have been weighing myself every weekday on the scales at work, so that I can see the effect of sticking to the diet and don't get discouraged and reach for a bar of chocolate.

Tuesday 1st October - 16 st 2 lb (the date of my last Diet & Exercise Report)
Monday 28th October - 16 st 3 lb (the start of the last MF Challenge)
Monday 9th December - 16 st 13 lb (the end of the last MF Challenge / start of the new challenge)
Monday 23rd December - 16 st 3 lb (after two weeks of the new MF Challenge)

I've got off to a good start in the first two weeks of the challenge, but the large initial weight-loss on a new diet always tapers off quite quickly and I'm not expecting the news to be so good over the next two weeks, what with Christmas and New Year.

I'm going to try to designate certain days as 'eat whatever you want' days, and be strict on the other days over the holiday period. I'm hoping to maintain this weight for the next two weeks and with any luck, I'll lose again in the last two weeks of the challenge. I'm also hoping to get my exercise regime restarted over the holidays, as I have several days off work.
