On Sunday morning the city centre was a sea of white & red, as seemingly half the population set out to find a pub that was opening early to show the England Sweden game. There were a lot less people at my pilates class than usual, and only one man (a Scotland fan).

In the afternoon I went to a Golden Jubilee street party organised by my parents' Neighbourhood Watch scheme. The flat top half of the road was closed to traffic for the day and everyone brought their garden furniture out and set it up in the middle of the road. Bunting was strung across the road and tied red, white & blue balloons to the lamp-posts. As well as a buffet in a centrally placed double garage, there was a tombola & a raffle, various games and guess the number of jelly-beans in the jar. Apparently the neighbourhood watch scheme has made money on all their previous events, and decide that it was time to spend some of it so they hired a children's entertainer for the afternoon, who did magic tricks and made balloon animals and had a free raffle with a ticket for each house in the scheme.
