Sometimes I wish I lived in London
Tuesday, June 4th, 2002 15:31I turned on the tv yesterday to watch the end of the Buckingham Palace rock concert on tv last night, but I watched the lighting of the beacon and the fireworks.
When the Queen lit the fuse to light the beacon, the flame shot along the fuse just like in a cartoon and as the beacon blazed, the fireworks started.
The flat(ish) white rectangle of Buckingham Palace made a perfect screen for the son et lumiere show and the fireworks were fantastic, they seemed to go on forever.
The Queen looked really happy, I'm sure that fireworks are much more her cup of tea than the Beach Boys and Ozzy Osbourne!
