Sometimes I wish I lived in London

I turned on the tv yesterday to watch the end of the Buckingham Palace rock concert on tv last night, but I watched the lighting of the beacon and the fireworks.

When the Queen lit the fuse to light the beacon, the flame shot along the fuse just like in a cartoon and as the beacon blazed, the fireworks started.

The flat(ish) white rectangle of Buckingham Palace made a perfect screen for the son et lumiere show and the fireworks were fantastic, they seemed to go on forever.

The Queen looked really happy, I'm sure that fireworks are much more her cup of tea than the Beach Boys and Ozzy Osbourne!

I haven't got a proper graphics program on my mac, so I had to download a few from a magazine-cover CD and find one by trial and error that would reduce photos to 100 pixels while keeping the height and width in the same proportions as the original picture.

So after uploading a few and deciding that they didn't look right, I have finally decided on pictures of the aurora borealis in Iceland from the NASA picture of the day site, a status of Isis from the Encyclopaedia Mythica website and a still from "All About My Mother", which is one of my favourite films.

I have just bought a digital camera, as my previous camera went caput a couple of months ago - which reminds me that I should take it along to Jessops to see if they can get it open and retrieve the half-used film which is stuck inside. So, I should have some pictures of my own to upload soon, although I may have to upgrade to a paid account, just so I can have more user pics.
