Weekly Wrap-Up #32 - Winter Wonderland
Saturday, December 7th, 2002 17:001. What's the best part about winter overall? Why? The worst? Why?
I like walking home in the dark on a clear night so that I can see the stars. I am really bad at recognising the constellations, but Orion is easy to spot in the winter sky, so I always say hello to him when I see him. The worst thing is when I go to work while it's still dark and come home again after nightfall, so that it's only at weekends that I am out during daylight hours.
2. Do you like snow? Why or why not?
I love snow, but that may be because I don't see much of it. I live in the Trent Valley, home of many power stations, which keep the temperature higher than in surrounding areas. So the whole country can have a cold winter with snow on the ground for weeks, but where I live mostly it won't settle, so we'll only have a few days each winter with snow on the ground.
3. Have you ever traveled to get to (or away) from winter weather? Why? Where did you go?
No never.
4. Do you like winter sports? Why or why not? What kinds do you like/dislike?
I've never been skiing, and the few times I went ice-skating I was useless at it, as I've got weak ankles. However, I do like tobogganing.
5. Describe your earliest or most favorite winter memory.
One Christmas when I was little, it actually snowed on Christmas Eve and the snow settled, so we had a white Christmas for once. It must have been in the early seventies, as I remember that we played on our space-hoppers in the snow.
