Van Helsing gripes

There's been a huge Van Helsing poster up round the corner from work for a few weeks now and I was really looking forward to seeing it. But I might have known that I would be disappointed. It's not that I dislike films reusing characters from other works of fiction, I just can't stand it when they keep the names of the characters but change every other damned thing to suit themselves.

So I've made up my mind now, that even the thought of Brad Pitt as Achilles isn't enough to tempt me to see "Troy". I'd just spend the whole movie becoming more and more irritated by all the story changes and missing characters. I will just have to re-read the Iliad instead and imagine Brad Pitt as Achilles.
