Books & Films / November 2004
Thursday, December 2nd, 2004 18:21This month's must read book is "Sleeping in Flame".
This month's must see movie is "I Heart Huckabees".
Books Read
Dreams Underfoot - Charles de Lint
253 - Geoff Ryman
The Eyre Affair - Jasper Fforde
Sleeping in Flame - Jonathan Carroll
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? - Philip K DIck
Emperor of China: Self-portrait of Ksang-hsi - Jonathan D Spence
Adventures in Persia - Reginald Teague-Jones alias Ronald Sinclair
Over half-way through November I hadn't read any non-fiction, so in order to meet my quota I went for the two with the least number of pages. I ended up reading two very interesting books, both of which were passed on to me by my father, who had picked them up at a library sale.
Here is my November reviews post to
50bookchallenge.
Cinema Trips
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
Being Julia
I Heart Huckabees
"Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason"
Much f*ckwittage - mostly by Bridget herself. Amusing.
"Being Julia"
Based on a Somerset Maugham novel. Annette Bening was very good as the actress who has an affair with a much younger man.
"I Heart Huckabees"
An environmental campaigner who is in danger of losing control of the group of local activists that he runs, hires an existential detective agency to investigate the meaning of his three coincidental meetings with the same man. Chaos ensues. I may well go and see it again.
