kittiwake: (travel)
The Internet certainly makes co-ordinating Christmas preparations easier than it used to be. I like shopping for presents; it makes it easier that my family all provide each other with lists of things they would like, but I do like to use my imagination as well. I always keep the receipts in case anyone wants to return their gift to the shop, but I do my best to get everyone something that they will really enjoy.

For the last few years I've bought myself a Christmas present too. This year's is a green and silver bracelet and earrings plus a copy of "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell". I never buy hard-back fiction, but this this book is so big that I think it will be really unmanageable in paperback.

I can't remember where I saw this first:

Name: My journal's name has been always been kittiwake, but the kittiwake theme only spread to other aspects of my journal a few months ago when I was bored with my previous journal scheme. Kittiwakes are seagulls and get their name from their cry "kittiwake, kittiwayake".

Journal Title: 'The Kittiwake's Nest'.

Subtitle: 'Tales from the Cliff Ledge'.

Friends page: It's still just 'Friends', although I keep thinking of changing it to something like 'Other Seabirds' or 'Gull Cries'. Edited 28/11: I eventually found the right place to customise my journal theme and I have changed the Friends page title to 'Gull Cries'.

Default userpic: A photo of a hare in the grass, because I like hares and haven't found a picture of a kittiwake that I like better than any of my present icons.
