The Internet certainly makes co-ordinating Christmas preparations easier than it used to be. I like shopping for presents; it makes it easier that my family all provide each other with lists of things they would like, but I do like to use my imagination as well. I always keep the receipts in case anyone wants to return their gift to the shop, but I do my best to get everyone something that they will really enjoy.

Presents bought so far:
Brother-in-law's birthday (before Christmas): DVD of "Black Books"
Nephew's birthday (before Christmas): Spiderman costume for dressing up
Father: 3 books (2 on mediaeval literature, 1 SF - Snowcrash), 1 CD (jazz - Roy Eldridge)
Mother: 1 book (David Hockney pictures), nightdress
Sister: bracelet & earrings, 2 books (Steven Saylor's Ancient Roman mysteries)
Brother: pen drive for backing up his PC
Sister-in-law: bracelet & earrings, filofax refills
Aunt 1: desk diary, poetry book (to be posted to Spain)
Aunt 2: travel book, art book
Nephew: leap pad spiderman cartridge, Buzz Lightyear doll, rubber tyrannosaurus
Niece 1: plastic tea set, doll's clothes, rag doll fairy
Niece 2: giggling stacking elephants toy, 2 long-sleeved tops
Friend T: (to be posted to Brazil): 2 books plus a Christmas tree decoration
Family: crackers, some stocking fillers

Still to be bought:
Brother-in-law: depends what he has got for his birthday
Friends: not decided yet
Family: some more stocking fillers, my contribution to the food & drink
Brother's birthday (10 days after Christmas): maybe an Amazon voucher

For the last few years I've bought myself a Christmas present too. This year's is a green and silver bracelet and earrings plus a copy of "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell". I never buy hard-back fiction, but this this book is so big that I think it will be really unmanageable in paperback.
