A (small) win on the lottery
When I buy a lottery ticket, I always check the numbers on teletext to see if I've won anything. But this time I must have forgotten, so when I went to buy a ticket for Saturday and handed over a couple of recent tickets to be run through the machine just in case, I found that I'd won a totally unexpected 10 quid.
A delivery from Land's End
A big box has arrived on my doorstep, containing a blue fleece parka, a pale green fleece top and a pair of brown suede lace-up ankle boots, all at sale prices. I'd liked the look of the fleece parkas for ages, but they were quite expensive. As they are now being discontinued, they were reduced to £40 a couple of months ago, and then to £33 in the most recent brochure, so I took the plunge.
Mothering Sunday
I have ordered a bouquet of purple and cream flowers to be delivered either today or Saturday and posted my card in good time. I am also going to Sunday lunch at my parents' house.
Bad Things
Amazon Marketplace problems
On Wednesday I posted off two books to SF and then saw that she'd sent me another e-mail saying that Amazon had taken two payments off her for each book by mistake and that their Help Desk said that we should sort it out
between us. I checked my seller account and they have only credited me with one payment per book, so I sent Amazon an e-mail saying that it was their mistake and to sort it out themselves, since they claim that buying and selling via Amazon Marketplace is a 'No Hassle' experience.
I pointed out that even if they had credited me with both payments, I would be out of pocket if I did buyer refunds, as I received £3.82 per book after Amazon take off their cut, but I would be refunding the whole £5.40 per book to SF, for something that is entirely Amazon's fault, not mine. I sent a copy of the e-mail to SF and suggested that she contact her credit card company about Amazon taking double payments, as they are legally obliged to sort out that kind of problem when you pay using their credit card.
On Thursday Amazon responded to say that they haven't taken two payments as far as they can tell, and that I'm right in thinking that they definitely haven't given me double payments. So I forwarded a copy of their response to SF, and it's really up to her now to sort it out with her bank/credit card company and Amazon.
