DNF: "101 Reykjavik" by Hallgrimur Helgason
Thursday, July 22nd, 2010 20:30This was the other book chosen for the Motley Fool book club, and I was looking forward to reading it. Hlynur is a misogynist layabout who still lives with his mother at the age of 36. His mother even runs his bathwater and asks him if it's the right temperature! He spends his days in bed, his evenings on the Internet and his nights in various sleazy clubs and bars with his equally sleazy friends. The book is told from Hlynur's point of view and by page 29 I couldn't bear to read any more. I read a few more pages at the end of the book but it didn't seem to have improved so I will be returning it to the library unfinished.
