I was very good yesterday, so thrifty and restrained that I can hardly believe it! I went to Waterstone's which is having a big 3 for 2 promotion, and easily found 2 books that I wanted. There wasn't another book that attracted my attention and I managed to put down the books and leave the shop without making a purchase, instead of either wandering round the shop for ages until I found a suitable third book, or just picking up any old book and justifying it by saying that I would give it away as a present.

Of course, it would be easier to avoid temptation in the first place if Waterstone's didn't have a coffee shop with a good view on the third floor!
