Miscellany
Saturday, July 19th, 2003 12:22My parents are celebrating their Ruby Wedding next weekend, and a couple of days ago heard the bloke who sits next to me at work taking to his wife on the phone about his parents' 40th wedding anniversary which is on the same day! I've seen a nice red (to fit the ruby theme) photo frame with holes for four photos that I think I'll buy for my parents this afternoon.
I had my interim appraisal yesterday afternoon, the first since I joined the CFH* project. My boss seems very pleased which is a bit of a relief as personally I feel that I've been slacking a bit recently. Anyway he said I was nearly at the top of my current grade and we set me some good objectives to work towards, so we'll see.
* CFH = client from hell
"I've just started the August book nominations thread for the MF Book Club, as it's already the 19th and no-one else has got round to it. That means I'm responsible for posting the polls when all the nominations are in - what a responsibility : ) There have been ructions in the past couple of months when people have nominated books that are either out of print in the UK, extremely long or very expensive. The book club board has been going since December and so far I've read about half the books, and none of the books I've nominated have ever been chosen.
I've just sold another book via Amazon Marketplace, "Red Shift" by Alan Garner, to someone in Denmark (my first foreign sale), so I've got to stop internetting now, parcel up the book and heard off to the post office.
