Sheffield on Saturday
Monday, October 18th, 2004 22:39I was shattered on Friday after work, so I decided that I would sleep in on Saturday and only go to Sheffield if I woke up in time (I did check the train times just in case). But inevitably, I woke up at 06:00 on Saturday (yawn), so I had plenty of time to register a few more books and make it to the railway station in time. And strangely, I ran into Rachel at the station, just like last time!
The train to Sheffield only takes an hour, but it was packed so Rachel and I were lucky to get seats on the way there. I wondered why there were big groups of girls getting on at each station, but eavesdropping led to the conclusion that there was a big Guides event on. The Showroom is a very suitable venue, being within site of the railway station. The cafe bar is large and open and there was plenty of room for the two children who came to the meet-up to play. I only came away with two books, a book of fantasy and horror short stories and a book of soup recipes, so that was good. While I was there I picked up the Showroom's
brochure and it looks as if they show some different films from Broadway, so it might be worthwhile to go over to Sheffield to see a film occasionally.
