Book Clubs & Dodos
Sunday, November 7th, 2004 20:12My nominated book won the
bookwyrmmes science fiction poll, so I will be reading "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" sometime this month.
I've just made my nominations for the December poll, still sticking with books that are on Mount TBR, so I nominated "Feersum Endjinn" by Iain M Banks and "The Drawing of the Dark" by Tim Powers.
As for the Motley Fool book club, my book didn't win but I may read "Quicksilver" if I can get hold of a copy soon. I've just tried the Notts libraries online catalogue and it still isn't in stock at any convenient branch.
I've been in work a lot of the weekend, baby-sitting the implementation of a new system, and managed to get in quite a bit of reading between running jobs and checking system performance. I finished off two books that I was part way through ("Dreams Underfoot" by Charles de Lint and "253" by Geoff Ryman), and started reading "The Eyre Affair". I must say that I love the dodos; they seem so lovable, especially poor Pickwick who doesn't have any wings and the flamingo/dodo chimera at the vet's. I've always liked dodos - the Dodo Pad diary is on my Christmas list every year.
