I missed all the Children in Need activities at work (Indian fuddle, putting competition, cake sale, Indian henna hand painting, etc.), since I spent Friday in bed with a migraine. I wasn't fit to get out of bed until after 8pm, when I got up for a couple of hours because my back was incredibly stiff from lying in bed for so long.

On Saturday, I was surprised to find that I had no after-migraine muzziness at all. I had a hairdressers' appointment, so my hair is now slightly shorter, much lighter and a different colour red. NB: I must remember to ask for Zoe next time, as she actually listened to what I wanted and had good suggestions about my style!

I went to the library to see if they had a book I have been looking out for but no luck yet, and on my way out I was waylaid by the end book on the sale trolley by the exit. It was a copy of "Lands of Glass" by Alessandro Baricco (the author of "Silk"), and it was in much better condition than most of the books they get rid of. In fact I suspect that they were disposing of it because it had never been borrowed, so I took pity on the poor unpopular book and forked out 50p for it.

I also did a bit of Christmas shopping on the Internet after checking prices in the local shops.

Today, I went out Christmas shopping in the late afternoon as I thought it would be less crowded, but I hadn't realised that the Nottingham Christmas lights were being switched on tonight. I saw a stilt-walking Christmas tree and the real Father Christmas (I knew he was the real thing because his sleigh was pulled by a real reindeer), but I didn't stay for the switch-on or to find out who the surprise celebrity guests would be.
